About
I’m Cristian Ortega. Engineer, founder, AI-native.
Shipping software is the easy part now. Knowing what to ship is the work. That’s the seat I take with the businesses I work with.
The work
What I’m building. What I’m solving.
I’m Cristian Ortega, founder of Ortega Solutions and an AI engineer who ships software end to end for the businesses I work with: apps, automations, integrations, full systems. I figure out where AI fits in your operation and build the solution that actually solves the problem.
Generative and agentic AI are still new, and they’re getting more powerful by the quarter. That speed is the opportunity, and it’s also where most businesses get stuck: not on access to the tools, but on knowing what to actually build with them. That’s the seat I take.
Why do you want AI? Every engagement starts there. From there I map your business and your product until I know it like an operator. We land on the smallest system that proves AI fits and we ship it: a full build, an integration, or the automation your team doesn’t have yet. I’m AI-native day to day: Claude Code, Codex, and the same stack your team is probably already paying for.
Active work right now: mapping workflows and shipping AI systems across sales, operations, and construction for a residential homebuilder, plus independent builds for legal, real estate, and product teams.

How I think
Principles I won’t bend on.
01
AI without an outcome is a demo.
Every engagement starts with what changes for the business: hours saved, leads recovered, errors avoided. If I can’t name the outcome, I won’t build the thing.
02
Ship small, then ship bigger.
The fastest path to a real system is a small one that works. I’d rather have something running in week three than a roadmap in week ten.
03
Determinism beats fluency in regulated domains.
When you’re doing legal, financial, or healthcare-adjacent work, the right answer is to constrain the model, not let it freelance. I design AI features around what it’s good at, and engineer around what it isn’t.
04
A handoff-able codebase beats a clever one.
Your next engineer should be able to read the code. I use boring, well-supported stacks and document the parts that aren’t obvious.
05
Say no when "no" is the right answer.
If a problem doesn’t need AI, I’ll say so. If it doesn’t need me, I’ll say that too.
